Were do I start May 4 of 2023 I received a email from my ISP witch was and still Aussie Broadband (awesome company) the email I got
said “Congratulations , your home is eligible for a $0 Fibre upgrade” Up until this point I was on FTTN witch. Is (Fibre to the Node) I am 808m from my node.
I was on a 100/40 plan but I was only getting 65Mbps down and 20Mbps Up which is pretty crappy. On July 29 2023 I ran my last FTTN speed test I’ll add a couple of screen shot of my FTTN speed and then my 1st FTTP test using Google Wifi Gen 2 I had a x3 pack
When I got the Fibre Upgrade on may 11 2023 I went Strat from My 100/40 plan to the 250/40 for $119 per month day 1 of the install. December 6 2023 my ISP dropped the price of there 1000Mbps/50Mbps plan $149 per month to
$129 per month of course I changed my plan to 1000Mbps/50Mbps I am still on the 1Gbps plan.
Im still on the 1000Mbps/50Mbps plan.
July 17 2025 I received a email from my ISP witch was and still is Aussie Broadband (High-speed upgrades are coming!) I was like yes faster speeds.

Once I saw the new plans I was so exited I upgraded my Unify gateway from Ubiquiti Dream Machine Special Edition to the Ubiquiti Cloud Gateway Fibre because it was the only unfi gateway with a 10gb RJ45 port the reason I burght The UniFi Cloud Gateway Fiber (UCG-Fiber) it was released in February 2025. I thought it would be a good choose to future proof as it has a 10gb RJ45 also ill be able to play a RJ45 from the NTD start to the The UniFi Cloud Gateway Fibre.
The previous upgrade I had decided to overhaul my home network. I was using the Google Nest Wifi access points
Don’t get me wrong Google nest is awesome but I wanted to step it up to the next level. My mate and I did a lot of research on which Wifi network to go with.
We looked several mesh network option I wanted something easy and powerful in the end I decided to go with a Ubiquiti network. List of items I bought.

When my electrician come over for the 1 look at what I wanted done he said “that’s overkill” but that what I do when I do anything is I do overkill. LOL. My home is only a 3 bedroom house my electrician has only 1 long range WiFi access point for his home he said “Thats all you will need for my size home” I said “fuck that”. After working out were we there were going we then set a date for install Friday October 6 and Friday October 13 of 2023.
The only bad part of my home network at the moment is I had to use CAT6 cabling for my UniFi U6 Pro Wireless Access Point I would have used CAT7 but we could not get the rj45 wall plates in CAT7 no body had any in stock but we could get the cable. So one day I will upgrade the cable to all x6 access point with +CAT7 cable when we can get the wall plates. On one of my staff members phone she has a samsung galaxy s8 and here os what what Wifi chip is in the S8 Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct. I did 3 speed tests back to back and the results We’re 345Mbps down and 47.8Mbps up.
